Lacey and Jonathan’s Cafe Brauer wedding was preceded by the first look, as they chose to see each other for the first time on the stairs leading down to Chicago’s Riverwalk, the location of Jonathan’s proposal. Smiling bridesmaids looked on from the street above while groomsmen gathered near the river below as the beautiful bride descended to meet her groom. She chose a gown with delicate beadwork and flowing skirt, and her hair was swept into a simple half updo. After taking portraits at favorite locations often frequented by the couple, we were able to stop by the Lyric Opera of Chicago to take a few beautiful images along the stone-pillared walkway before heading to the ceremony and reception venue, Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park.
Their Jewish ceremony was full of meaning and traditions such as the signing of the Ketubah and the breaking of a glass by the groom. There were also tender moments shared between the bride, groom, and groom’s son. Later on, the guests danced the Horah, hoisting the couple high overhead on chairs and circling around – a nice image to capture when juxtaposed against the location’s chandeliers. Later on, we were able to steal away to capture a stunning evening image after sunset in front of the Cafe Brauer – It is always an artistic opportunity for me when the couple is willing to give me a few minutes during the reception for one or two of these memorable, intimate portraits. Enjoy this Cafe Brauer wedding!
