Kevin & Robin’s eco green wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, IL was one the most unique wedding sites available for a Chicago outdoor wedding. This small, sustainable farm produces its organic fare year-round and all wedding cuisine is prepared fresh on-site and will leave you dreaming of sweet potatoes, fired pork tenderloin, and risotto. On top of all this, the farm has the friendliest staff you could ever want. They are very nature-conscious and many of their locally-produced, organic products can be found in their small market, from honey to heirloom tomatoes to tea and assorted cheeses.
From the getting ready to the picturesque ceremony under the ancient tree in the garden to the reception and entertainment, this wedding was a one-location wonder that celebrated the good things in life. Each wedding has its own style. This one achieved the relaxed balance that many couples desire and was truly an event designed with guests in mind. As you can see, they bounced, dressed up, tossed, rode, ate, lighted wedding lanterns, and played the night away right alongside the bride and groom.
These two were such an outstanding and fun couple to work with. The goat must have agreed, too, as he tried to join in on their couple portraits in the “goat barn” experience. They didn’t take themselves too seriously, took time to greet and talk to each of the guests, and at the end of the night humored my “strobist” tendencies for some beautiful images. I hope you two are still holding hands and bouncing around together fifty years from now. Cheers!
