The Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet, Illinois hosted Erica and John’s classic, romantic late-summer wedding ceremony and reception. I could not have asked for a more tranquil location for the getting ready images. Light enveloped Erica as she enjoyed refreshments and intimate moments, laughter, smiles, with family members. As she walked down the aisle, her eyes were fixed on the groom as they drew closer to each other, an ear-to-ear smile on her face.
The groom’s mother shed tears of joy as the bride walked down the aisle, but her eyes were fixed on the groom standing up at the altar. I was able to capture some intimate moments with the couple right after the ceremony as they were giddy with the realization that they had just become Mr. and Mrs. One-location weddings offer visual continuity – notice the same stunning windows behind the bride as she walks down the aisle are the same ones in the background as the bride touches forehead to her groom during the first dance.
It’s a fun opportunity for me as a photographer to grab couple shots throughout the night in different locations on the grounds – close enough to be back for the “Blues Brothers” dance tribute, but far enough away to explore balconies, alcoves, and landscapes of the location.
Cheers!
